Sahara Canal Project Objective
"More than US$2 trillion of foreign aid has been transferred from rich countries to poor over the past fifty years - Africa the biggest recipient, by far. Yet regardless of the motivation for aid-giving - economic, political or moral - aid has failed to deliver the promise of sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction."
- From: "Dead Aid" by Dambisa Moyo / ISBN 978-1-846-14006-8
The Sahara Canal Project proposes an answer to ongoing and new difficulties the world experiences in terms of effective aid projects, sustainable development, predicted food shortages, foreseeable energy shortages and global participation initiatives.

Giving countries in trouble
The numerous aid attempts over the past 30-50 years and Millenium Goal programme have so far not resulted in the projected outcome: a better life for many people. The Millenium Goals have had good results in terms of democratic governance in sovereign regions, more equal rights for women, education for children. The Goals set to increase the value of life for the poorest people on earth are yet to be met, especially in the Sahara region.
With recent changes in global finance, the search for energy sources and the aid possibilities of rich countries, it is safe to say that succes of the Millenium Goals did not come closer.

Structural change
The Sahara Canal Project aims for a structural change in the poorest region in the world, one change the world would also benefit from. We feel the potential of the region is overlooked and underestimated. We also believe Sahara Sandbox has become too expensive to keep in its current state. We feel the situation for the regions possibilities and population could be changed for the better.
The Sahara Canal Project advocates a area wide infrastructural project to enable sustainable growth for Saharan economies. Furthermore the project aims to change the global outlook on energy and food sources, global productivity, global finance and investment opportunities. The project will enhance sustainable economic growth, self reliance and means to build a life for inhabitants and immigrants of the area. At the same time the Sahara Canal Project envisions possibilities for the worlds energy and food supply.
We believe the - only - way forward for the Sahara area and the world is by means of this continental infrastructural project to create a structural source of water in this area, therefore this investment is necessary, an investment on a global scale. Not just a global financial investment, but also a global human investment. This investment is for the whole world to benefit from. This investment is cheap considering what can be accomplished.
The way forward is to invest in people and in water.
